Our diverse and passionate team is the heart of La Cloche - creative and curious, we are dedicated to bringing New Zealand the freshest and finest French food. Our mission is simple - to excel in everything we do and create a little piece of France for our customers to enjoy right here in the capital.
At La Cloche, our passion lies in the exceptional food crafted with care in our back kitchen. Known for our famous French Onion Soup (gratinée à l’oignon), available in our retail deli and Kai location for you to recreate at home – we also take pride in our seafood casserole (la casserole du pêcheur) and handmade patisseries from our Kai kitchen, especially the beloved Mille Feuille (French custard slice).
Our commitment to quality extends to our branded products like chicken liver mousse, onion jam, tapenade, and quiche lorraine, available at Kaiwharawhara or Moore Wilson’s. We work closely with Cameron Harrison for our butchery and Moana for our seafood, including the Aoraki Mount Cook salmon that we smoke in-house.
Philosophy
At La Cloche, our philosophy is rooted in a dedication to quality, sustainability, and exceptional service. We believe in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where our guests feel like part of the La Cloche family. Our attention to detail and commitment to excellence are evident in every dish we prepare and every interaction we have with our customers.

Please congratulate the chef and the team. The food was the best that we taste in New Zealand and even better than some French café. The lemon meringue tart was wonderful, well balanced! Perfect! We really had to let you know. Lucile and Robin
